2016-2017 After School Outcomes

Outcomes:
• Total Number of students served: 208

• 100% of students received educational enrichment activities.
• 98% improved their grades in one or more subject areas.
• 93% completed their homework prior to leaving for the day.
• 100% participated in on-site counseling and/or group counseling sessions.
• 83% of students improved their attitude and motivation towards school.

2017 Summer Camp

• Students toured Florida Memorial University in Miami, FL.
• Recreational activities included, swimming, bowling and skating
• Summer ended with a field-trip to Fun Spot in Orlando, FL.

Science Institute of Discovery
• Approximately 50 students participated in the five (5) week program.
• The theme was Engineering with an emphasis on problem solving.
• To improve their problem-solving skills, students used “The Engineering Design Process six (6) steps: Ask, Brainstorm, Design, Build, Test and Improve.
• The campers used the design process to construct a Mega Roller Coaster.
• Fieldtrips included visits to the Kennedy Space Center, Indian River State College, CVS Distribution Center and the Gifford Dock.
• At IRSC, the campers sued the design process to figure out how to protect an object from being stolen.
• At CVS, the campers observed a robotic crane, and discovered how efficient the robot is compared to humans.

2016 Summer Camp

  • Activities included STEM projects, a mock archeological dig, exploring the Indian River Lagoon, in addition to field trips to the Ft. Pierce Airport, and the Kennedy Space Center.

2015 Summer Camp

  • Post test results show a gain of 11% in math and 8% in reading.

  • Activities included field trips to Florida Institute of Technology, Treasure Coast Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital, FAU (Ft. Pierce Campus) and Syngenta

  • 93% completed their homework prior to leaving for the day.

After School Program - 2013-14 School Year:

  • Number of students served: 203
  • Average daily attendance rate: 75%
  • 100% of our students received homework assistance and academic enrichment activities.
  • 80% of 3rd graders passed the FCAT
  • 98% improved their grades in one or more subjects.
  • 97% maintained good or improved behavior; no suspensions or explusions.
  • 90% completed their homework prior to leaving for the day.

  • Activities included STEM, Aquaponics, Hydroponics and Marine Life
  • Students participated in NASA's Digital Learning Network Event.
  • Field trips included Indian River Medial Center, Ocean Discovery Center, Florida Atlantic University - Research Campus and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
